Things are looking up and up AND UP!

Dyslexia Pathways: Being Positive about Dyslexia

Hi blogger readers hope you are all well and winning in the game of life.

I have just hired a new web developer for the Unique Dyslexic site The company are Toolkit and I am feeling very upbeat right now. It will take up all of the web development budget. But after a little negotiation the company have just added a years free hosting in the second year. Saving Dyslexia Pathways CiC just under £400 for that year. They have given me an initial date of the end of February to have the web site up and running.

The Unique Dyslexic project is all about promoting a more positive social model of dyslexia. Its about promoting all things creative and dyslexic. It is well established that many dyslexics are creative individuals and the Unique Project is here to support and promote their creative works. So if you are a musician, composer, writer, artist or cake maker or involved in any creative activity is for you. So if you are dyslexic, or have been told you might be dyslexic and want to get involved in the project please feel free to send us examples of your creativity for addition on our Facebook page and on our web site. If you are a professional or just being creative for fun the Unique dyslexic project is for you.

We are also running 3 or 4 creative activity workshops across Fife in 2014. We can also provide  a workshop in partnership with organisations in Dundee or Edinburgh. Anyone wanting to get involved in these workshops please contact me on: Travel expenses, free lunch and the workshops are totally free of charge.

So here is an open invitation to anyone wanting to add their contact details to our web site and for anyone to add our web site addy to their own web site.

If there is any suitably qualified creative professional out there who would like to get involved and maybe run one of the workshops contact me on:

I like to try and be positive at all times but

I am not sure how to write this but here goes. Some time ago ordered a new web site for the Unique Dyslexic Project. Well its all gone to the wall and I had to cancel the order with the web developer. I have to say the web developer was good enough to refund the money paid for the web site. I am not going to go into the ins and outs of it all but I felt I had no other option. I am now searching for a new web developer for the Unique site. Time scales are tight and I have two months to get the web site up and running.

The same web developer also built my dyslexia pathways site. I informed them that I didn't want to cease this. However, the web developer gave me two weeks to find a new web developer. Yesterday I discovered my dyslexia pathways site had been totally deleted. This also included my company e mail address steve.mccue@dyslexiapathways.co.uk. Something that the web developer omitted to tell me. The upshot is I now have no company web site or company e-mail. This is impacting on my work with dyslexic students at both universities as well as on my other projects.

So I am not sure when I will be able to get a new Dyslexia Pathways site up and running or if I will ever be able to use my company e-mail.

So all of this week end has been spent contacting students and companies etc of my new contact e-mail which is steve_mccue@hotmail.com

A lot of extra work on top of student work, the unique project and tax returns lol sigh. Still have to keep on bashing away.

Its not a total disaster but its one hell of a jolt.

OPEN Invitation

Unique Dyslexic is a new Dyslexia Pathways CiC Project.

We are based in Glenrothes Fife.

Dyslexia Pathways CiC: Being dyslexia positive
...

Are you dyslexic or think you are dyslexic?
It is well known and many dyslexics are also creative individuals

Are you a creative individual or would like to find out more about being creative?

Are you interested in art, drawing, poetry, cooking, photography, music or any other creative activity?

Then the Unique Dyslexic Project is for you.

The Unique Dyslexic project will be running 3 or 4 creative workshops in across Fife in 2014. These workshops are free and travel expenses and lunch is provided.

You are cordially invited to join the Unique Dyslexic Facebook page at the address below:
http://www.facebook.com/groups/unique.dyslexic/

Unique Dyslexic encompasses all areas of creativity from the arts to photography and cooking to music.

Free dyslexia screening for people over the age of 16 attending the workshops

We will also run a workshop for any organisations in Fife wanting to better meet the needs of their dyslexic clients / employees etc.

You do not have to live in Fife to get involved with the Unique Dyslexic project. Any one from anywhere in the world can share their creative works on the Unique Dyslexic Facebook page.

Research indicates around 10% of the UK population are dyslexic. As a result many dyslexics feel isolated and there is no real tangible dyslexic community.

The Unique Dyslexic project seeks to redress this by bringing them together in these workshops where they can develop their creative talents and share experiences of being dyslexic, form friendships and a peer support group.

People taking part in this can share their work project through either on the Unique Dyslexic Facebook Page.

These workshops are open anyone who is dyslexic or thinks they are dyslexic. To anyone who is interested in finding out more about being creative from beginner to expert.

Each workshop will run between 3 to 4 hours and will include short dyslexia awareness presentation on the social model of dyslexia and being dyslexia positive.

You do not have to attend any of the workshops to get your work shown on our Facebook page. Just send it to:
