Things are going fine

Today I am writing and end of project report for the Scottish Community Foundation who provided us with a grant of £1.800 last year. Phew hard work this writing lark lol.

Here are a few of the things the funding enabled us to do:

The project went very well for example we increased the number of students we were able to provide with dyslexia support. This year we supported 48 students enabling them to overcome barriers to succeeding at university.

This is a 27% increase from last year. Dyslexia Pathways utilised to items purchased with the grant to develop dyslexia friendly learning materials and to enable students to develop dyslexia friendly learning and working strategies.

We were also able to provide free advice and guidance on dyslexia issues to over 250 people and organisations through our accessible web site, over the phone and through Facebook and Facebook cause page.

This included providing computer based dyslexia screening and learning styles profiles.
Dyslexia Pathways was also able to carry out its work within committees at the Scottish parliament including the Goodison Group and Preventative Spend Committee. The items purchased enabled me to overcome my own dyslexia and prepare materials for this work.

We would have done more but due to circumstances we fostered 2 children one aged 2 and one aged 14 for two months. I became the main carer during this time and I would not have had it any other way. There mum is my wife's neice and was too ill to look after the kids so we stepped.
