Lots of news going down today phew I am shattered........

Hi blog readers hope you are all well out there in the big wide world.

I have been writing like a crazy man with an un scratch able itch over the past few days. I have nearly finished the lottery report for Unique Dyslexic Get Creative. Only the accounts for the project to be proof read now. If everything works our I will be sending them off tomorrow. The next will be a report for Foundation Scotland who I well be chasing up tomorrow.

I have also been completing the Indiegogo crowd funding appeal. This just needs one more look over and U think I will launch it next week. Look out for that its about enabling dyslexics to advocate for a more positive profile of dyslexia  using tee shirt logos that I have designed. For your information I designed the Unique Dyslexic logo and website.

The funds raised from the appeal are going to be used to pay a graphic artists to give my designs a more professional look. We will also be printing and selling tee shirts and hoodies through out social media. If it all goes well we can then go on to print more shirts and so on. We are hoping it will become the start of a dyslexia focussed social movement.

I have made two applications for funding to build a new dyslexia focussed app to support organisational and time issues we dyslexics have. I have made one to the Disability Alliance for £17.500 and one to Interface. The interface one is about finding a university to help move the project of through a Scottish Innovation Grant. This is my second go with the Innovation Fund. Hope it is more successful than my last one.

As if that was not enough writing now I am here writing my blog lol. Glutton for punishment methinks.

Then we have a Dyslexia Pathways Board meeting on Sunday March 1st. Items on the agenda opening a new dyslexia centre and next stage of Unique Dyslexic. We are exploring the idea of opening a dyslexia centre here in Fife. We have a feasibility study from Carolynn Cruickshank Grey already done and first year budget. Looks like we will be applying for a large lottery bid over a five year period. Its a long shot but hey, "always chase your dreams".

A message of hope to every dyslexic out there in non dyslexic land

Hi blog readers

I think we have to remember there are millions of successful dyslexics out there. Successful doctors, scientists, writers, mechanics, actors etc. We can thrive and reach the top in many professions just as well as any non dyslexic out there.

I know being dyslexic at school can be no fun at all. Struggling to survive in an education system that singularly fails us from our first day in school to the last. For many kids school must see like purgatory. I talk with many parents of dyslexic kids and it is no exaggeration to say that many parents hearts are broken on a daily basis when they see their kids struggling at school.

But we can overcome this and succeed. We can have a future in spite of all our negative experiences at school. That is a message we must share with every dyslexic child at school and every dyslexic adult.

In my role as a dyslexia specialist I have supported many dyslexic students at university on degree, masters degree and PhD course. Many of them shared the same struggles at school as many other dyslexics and the vast majority succeeding in their chosen academic field.

This world would be a poorer place if it were not for our unique dyslexic minds:
