I bawled my eyes out, twice lol

Me as a wee bairn, not sure when or where, probably Scotland 1959 / 60

Hello all, hope you are all doing well out there

When I was very young. Maybe 1 or 2 years old. I was pretty seriously ill and ended up in hospital for a year or so. Originally went in for Scarlet Fever. It nearly killed me apparently. I bawled my eyes out being left there.

After I got over Scarlet Fever I got a serious throat infection, probably strep throat. Ice cream was the only thing I could eat for ages lol. I guess that explains my addiction to icec ream and all things sweet, CHOCOLATE!

Finally, for some reason, I got a bone growing from my bum. Got some techy medical name. But I had to get in removed. I can still feel the scar today. Never seen the scar though.

I will get Anne to take a photo when I get up the courage to ask her. Feels kind'a big though lol. I again bawled my eye out being taken home. Kid, so difficult to keep happy lol.

Did you have any serious illness as a wee bairn?

So its, #PeaceLoveGrooveyness

Another early COVID podcast, my dyslexia work and life under COVID. Recorded live and unscripted from my allotment in Glenrothes

Hello, hello and hello all, hope life is treating you well

Talking about COVID shut down and it is seriously impacting on income for my Social enterprise Dyslexia Pathways CIC. I am still trying to get my head around online learning, both as a learner and teacher. But student and staff safety is paramount here. On the plus side I have students accessing support from me again. Its a steep learning curve for all. Also talking about how I keep myself sane and caring for the family.

Speaking as both a dyslexic and as a dyslexia and inclusion specialist:

Which design do you prefer?

Hi there to all of you out there, hope life is being good to you?

Just a very short blog from me today.

Speaking as both a dyslexic and as a dyslexia and inclusion specialist I do not like the word remediate. If there is any remediation needed its our education system that needs it to make our whole education system more dyslexia, neuro diverse and disability friendly.

Only 19% of adult dyslexics were assessed while at school.

What do you think about that statement. Do you agree or disagree?

Blog from about our very successful Unique Dyslexic Get Creative campaign

Original Unique Dyslexic Logo based on an idea from me

Welcome to another Unique Dyslexic blog. Hope you are all doing away out there.

Hi blog readers. Yet another early blog writing start for me today. On Saturday 13th September 2014 we ran the fifth of our Unique Dyslexic Get Creative workshops.

This one was delivered to us for free by Furniture Plus and Clarabelle Christie and their generosity in offering us this enabled us to add this additional workshop to our Unique Dyslexic Get Creative programme.

Some of the aims of Unique Dyslexic Get Creative are to get dyslexics together and sharing stories and experiences of being dyslexic and of being parents of dyslexic kids.

To provide dyslexic's with a forum where mutual support can be offered. To raise awareness of the social model of dyslexia.

But mainly it was to provide an opportunity where creative dyslexics could get together, be creative and have fun and share support.

I think you can see from some of the photos here in my blog and in the Facebook album that everyone certainly had fun. All expressed their creative side and up cycled some very old drab boring chairs into brand spanking new looking ones. They all did fab, had fun and shared stories.

Many thanks for taking the time to read this blog. Please feel free to give us a like on our Facebook page.  Or leave a comment and subscribe to help the channel grow.

Is there anyone out there who would like to volunteer some of their time to help spread the Unique Dyslexic word and grow our social media reach.

If you would like to write a guest blog or poem to share your thoughts on dyslexia. Please, just send it to me and I can post it in my blog. Same goes for a movie about dyslexia and your thoughts.

Thanks for taking the time to read this blog, hope you enjoyed it. Please leave a like, or give it a share on your social media.

Dyslexia, mental health, empathy and emotional intelligence

Good day to you all. Hope life is treating you well. If not, always remember you are not alone.

After COVID hit I set up Unique Dyslexic Eye podcasting. As part of this I documented life through COVID. Here is one of the early ones. This one is about dyslexia and mental health. As dyslexics we tend to have a high level of empathy and fab emotional intelligence. This is fab but, it can be a bit of a double edged school. What are your thoughts on this?

Here is a link to my Unique Dyslexic Eye podcasts about this on You Tube:

What did you do to keep yourself occupied in those early COVID days? #PeaceLoveGrooveyness to you all from me.

Thanks for reading and listening.

At the start of COVID I began recording a series of short podcasts

Playing cards when resting during a jam session

Hello there all, hope you are all well

At the start of COVID I began recording a series of short podcasts, live, from my allotment. I documents what was going on with myself and family as well as my dyslexia and neuro diversity Unique Dyslexic Eye Show during COVID.

What were you doing at the start of COVID to help you cope with the stress and anxiety?
